Grassland Evaluation Contest

There is no Grassland Evaluation Contest scheduled for 2010.
Participation in this program will be handled through the registration form for the conference. The contest is divided into four sections: 1) soils interpretation; 2) plant identification; 3) grassland condition/matching forage and livestock, and 4) wildlife habitat. The judging site will be a typical pasture or area used for livestock grazing. Each of these sections must be considered in evaluating pastures or grasslands to best utilize the resource and to make wise management decisions. The goal of the contest is to educate students in the benefits, use and management of grasslands for livestock production and wildlife habitat. The participants are divided into 4 groups and rotate through all four sections at 25-minute intervals.
