Organic Dairy Farm Tour
Wednesday, August 5, 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.Landis Weaver started his first dairy with his brother on his father?s farm in 2008. Today, he runs his own certified organic dairy on 250 acres of rented land, where he pastures cows and grows 30 acres of corn and triticale. Landis milks 85 cows with seasonal calving beginning in late February, and raises 30-40 replacement heifers each year. Join Landis and tour co-sponsor the Ohio Forage and Grasslands Council for a pasture walk and tour, filled with spirited conversation about the finer points of organic, grass-based dairying.
